I was searching online for some practical tips in dealing with the sin of acedia/sloth, which I have been struggling with lately. I found a fantastic article by Sr. Prudence Allen at Catholic Culture that I want to share with you:
Formation in an Electronic Age
Please pray for me as I try to combat the sin of acedia/sloth and learn to live out my vocation with vigor and joy. I am firmly convinced that this will not occur unless I change my habits. It seems like common sense, but it is much easier to say than to practice.
Thanks for the link, Kathryn. It was an interesting article and very helpful. I struggle with sloth too. I may joke around about it at times but, in all honesty, I find myself backsliding in this area a lot. I'm not quite sure why I've been struggling with this one so much lately but, as you say, it can be quite difficult to overcome. How about we pray for each other in this area? Prayer is powerful :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder about blogging too. Oddly enough, I didn't seem to have this problem before I started blogging. I've cut back so hopefully that will help.
I hope you and your family are doing well!
Hi Mary! I agree, let's pray for each other in this area. I have always had struggles with procrastination, but have gotten by without too many issues, until the last several years. Since I started spending more time on the computer, it has gotten worse, so that is why this article is so helpful to me!
ReplyDeleteThere have been a lot of positives from blogging, but there are also negatives too, and it is good to be aware of those to help us practice prudence and temperance.
Procrastination is one of my faults too, Kathryn, I think it walks hand in hand with sloth! Lol! I started praying for you about this last night and this morning at Mass. Maybe together we can conquer this thing :) Thank you for your prayers!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mary! I prayed for you at Mass this morning too. Right now as I type, I am sitting in the middle of my room, sorting through stuff and cleaning. It will be nice if we can have some semblance of peace in here again. Will offer this cleaning for you today :)
ReplyDeletePrayers for you Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank for the article. I got a lot of use from it.
God Bless.
Hi Michael! Glad the article was useful for you! And thank you so much for your prayers. They really mean so much. Prayers for your week as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn, I will have to check out this article because it is something I face myself. I will pray for you and will you pray for me as well?
ReplyDeleteHi Noreen! Yes,I will definitely pray for you. Thank you so much for your prayers.
